About the practice

A quiet,
unhurried
kind of care.

Bronkhorst Practice was built on a simple belief — that occupational therapy is most effective when the therapist actually has time to listen, watch, and adapt. We keep our caseload small for exactly that reason.

The story
behind the
practice.

The practice started where so much occupational therapy starts — at the bedside, in an acute neuro ward, watching families try to understand what had just happened to the person they loved. What was missing, again and again, was time. Time to demonstrate, to repeat, to adjust, to grieve a little, and to begin.

Bronkhorst Practice was a deliberate answer to that. A small, deeply experienced practice with a wide reach but a narrow daily schedule — so that the patient in front of us has the room they actually need.

“We measure success by how invisible we eventually become in someone's day.”

We work across hospitals, clinics, and homes — wherever a patient's life actually happens. Where we don't have the specialism in-house, we have a network of colleagues we trust to refer to: behavioural optometrists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, neurologists, orthotists, and seating specialists.

What we
hold to.

Four principles that shape every plan we write, every session we run, and every conversation we have with a family.

i.

Plain language

No jargon for its own sake. If we use a medical term, we explain it.

ii.

Real-life goals

Goals are written in your kitchen, not on a scoring sheet.

iii.

Family included

Partners and carers learn alongside the patient — every visit.

iv.

Evidence first

Treatment choices are grounded in current OT research, not fashion.

sounds like a fit.
